Two kinds of server answer this: Google's official Google Ads MCP server only reads (in its own words below), and PaidSync.ai offers both a read-only mode and approval before changes. In PaidSync.ai, read-only comes from the workspace viewer role, and approval from cards that hold every workspace change by default. From your own assistant, Google Ads create tools and most other create tools run as a dry run first, new campaigns and ads start paused or as drafts, and deletes, removals, pauses and budget updates are refused without an explicit confirm.
In order: connect the platforms on their own sign-in screens; give reviewers the viewer role; approve each card, or set your assistant to ask before any write tool; widen one autonomy band at a time with the spend ceiling and kill switch on.
Disclosure: PaidSync.ai publishes this page.
Google's own page says: "Note: This implementation is strictly read-only." (Google Ads API, MCP server, last updated 16 October 2026, read 27 October 2026.) We compare it head to head at PaidSync vs the official Google Ads MCP.
Read-only mode. Workspaces have four roles: viewer, editor, admin and owner. Viewers read only. Editors and above approve and undo a card, and the card records which user executed it.
Approval before changes, in the workspace. Every change waits as an approval card by default. A person taps Approve, and only then does the write run.
Approval before changes, from your own assistant. Over MCP, PaidSync.ai writes no card, so whether a person confirms first is set in your assistant. Every tool PaidSync.ai lists carries the MCP read-only hint (readOnlyHint), true for reads and false for writes. Google Ads create tools and most other create tools run as a dry run first, and a live call to a tool whose name starts with delete_, remove_, pause_, disable_, revert_ or archive_, an update tool with budget in its name, or the raw Google mutate call is refused without an explicit confirm.
Limits. Search Console is read-only. The spend ceiling and the kill switches apply to changes made in the workspace, not to calls from your own assistant.
Coverage. 630+ tools across 14 platforms through one connection. The full list of controls is on the security page.
Each has its own comparison page: Meta's MCP, AdKit, Ryze AI, Markifact, GoMarble, Adspirer, Pipeboard and Synter.
Yes. In the workspace, viewers read only, and editors and above approve. From your own assistant, every tool carries a read-only or write label (readOnlyHint), and writes wait for your confirm when your assistant is set to ask.
Deletes, removals, pauses, disables, reverts, archives, budget updates and raw Google mutations. Google Ads create tools and most other create tools preview with dry_run first. The details are on the security page.
