To advertise on ChatGPT, open an advertiser account in OpenAI's self-serve ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com, then create a campaign with a budget and locations, an ad group with its bidding, and a chat card ad. Add tracking parameters so you can measure results in GA4. PaidSync.ai connects that ad account to Claude, so you can build each step as a preview and manage ChatGPT Ads next to Google Ads and Meta in one chat.
OpenAI's advertiser portal, Advertise in ChatGPT, is at ads.openai.com. Trade press tracked the rollout through 2026:
Availability keeps changing, so check ads.openai.com for your country before you plan a budget.
| Level | What you set |
|---|---|
| Campaign | Name, a daily or lifetime budget, locations, the objective (impressions, clicks or conversions) and tracking parameters for your landing pages |
| Ad group | How you bid, either a fixed bid or a goal such as most clicks or most conversions |
| Ad | A chat card with an image, a headline, a description and the landing page |
Two details catch people out. The objective cannot be changed after the campaign is created. A conversions objective still bills per click and needs a conversion event set up first, and a lifetime budget allows fixed bids only.
PaidSync.ai's app in ChatGPT can report on ChatGPT Ads but is read-only there. Builds and changes happen from Claude or the PaidSync.ai workspace, so these steps use Claude.
Sign up at ads.openai.com and follow OpenAI's own sign-up and billing steps.
In that ad account's Settings in ChatGPT Ads Manager, create an API key. Enter it on the PaidSync.ai dashboard, not in chat. Each key connects one ad account, so add one key per account.
Add PaidSync.ai from Claude's connector directory and sign in. Ask "list my ChatGPT Ads accounts" and choose the one to work in.
Ask Claude to create the campaign, the ad group, the image and the chat card ad. Each step comes back as a preview first. The campaign and ad groups are created paused.
Ask for a summary, then say "enable the campaign". Enabling needs your explicit confirmation.
Set tracking parameters on the campaign, for example utm_source=openai&utm_campaign={campaign_id}&utm_content={ad_id}. The placeholders in braces are replaced with each campaign and ad ID, so GA4 can tell them apart. Ad group and ad parameters override the campaign's when both are set.
Then compare what ChatGPT Ads reports with what GA4 recorded for the same days. Our guide on how to measure ChatGPT Ads in GA4 and Tag Manager covers the setup.
Everything PaidSync.ai can do on ChatGPT Ads is on the ChatGPT Ads MCP server page. For day-to-day management, see how to manage ChatGPT Ads from Claude.
OpenAI sets the prices and any minimums. Digiday reported in spring 2026 that self-serve buying dropped the earlier $50,000 minimum. An impressions objective bills per impression, and the clicks and conversions objectives bill per click. Check ads.openai.com for current terms.
According to Digiday on 7 May 2026, ChatGPT ads ran in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and were expanding to the UK, Brazil, Japan, South Korea and Mexico. Availability changes, so check ads.openai.com.
