PaidSync connects Google Tag Manager to Gemini via MCP. Gemini gets 39 tools to audit your containers and to build, preview and publish tags, triggers and variables. Ask plain-English questions. Get real GTM data back.
Setup time: 2 minutes. Free plan available. No credit card required.
PaidSync joins Gemini as a custom app, or through Gemini CLI, Antigravity or Gemini Enterprise. No API key is needed, because Gemini connects with a PaidSync sign-in (OAuth).
Before you start
Gemini app, personal account. Open gemini.google.com, go to Settings, then Connected Apps (if you do not see it, open Personal Intelligence first), and under Custom apps choose Add a custom app. Paste the PaidSync server URL and click Next. PaidSync registers itself, so there is no API key to copy and nothing to fill in under Advanced features.
https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcpAdd it on the web once and it works in the Gemini mobile app too. Google limits custom apps to personal Google accounts, age 18 and over, in the US, in English, with Keep Activity turned on. A work or school account cannot add them, so use Gemini Enterprise below instead.
Gemini CLI. Run the command, then type /mcp auth paidsync and sign in with your PaidSync login. Google replaced Gemini CLI with Antigravity CLI for unpaid-tier and Google One users on 18 June 2026, so those accounts use Antigravity below.
gemini mcp add --transport http paidsync https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcpGemini Code Assist agent mode in VS Code reads the same settings file as Gemini CLI. Add this to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"paidsync": { "httpUrl": "https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp" }
}
}Antigravity uses a different key. Open the agent panel menu, choose MCP Servers, then Manage MCP Servers and View raw config, or edit ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json, and add the server with serverUrl. Antigravity signs in by dynamic client registration on its own:
{
"mcpServers": {
"paidsync": { "serverUrl": "https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp" }
}
}Gemini Enterprise, Business edition. A team admin adds PaidSync under Settings and help, then Manage team, then Connected apps, then Add MCP Server. PaidSync serves the Streamable HTTP transport Gemini requires and OAuth 2.0 at https://api.paidsync.ai/authorize and https://api.paidsync.ai/token. Email support@paidsync.ai for the client credentials that form asks for.
The PaidSync sign-in screen opens. Pick Continue with Google, or sign in with your PaidSync email and password. A PaidSync screen then asks whether to allow Gemini to manage your ad accounts via PaidSync. Press Approve and PaidSync is connected.
New to PaidSync and signing in with Google? Your free account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve. The screen also mentions ad accounts already connected inside PaidSync. On a new account that list is empty until you finish step 3.
In any chat, ask: "Connect my Google Tag Manager." Gemini replies with a link that opens Google's own sign-in and consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your containers and approve access. GTM uses a separate OAuth client from Google Ads, so your Google Ads connection is unaffected. PaidSync never sees your Google password.
Come back and ask: "List my GTM containers." Gemini uses list_gtm_accounts and list_gtm_containers to show what your Google login can open, and you tell it which container to use. Connecting and listing containers uses none of your tasks. Then try: "Audit my GTM container and list anything broken." You can also connect Google Tag Manager from the PaidSync dashboard instead. Both routes use the same PaidSync login, so Gemini sees the container either way.
Gemini can read the whole container and also change it: workspaces, tags, triggers, variables, built-in variables, versions and publishing. Check each change before you tell Gemini to apply it, and publishing makes a version live on your website at once. GTM tools do not edit your website code, so the container snippet from get_gtm_container_snippet still has to be on your pages.
Each prompt runs on the PaidSync tools named after it and uses one or more of your tasks. Prompts 4, 5 and 7 make a change in your container.
setup_gtm, which checks the whole setup in one call: connected, accounts, containers and tags.audit_gtm_container, which returns what it finds without changing anything.get_gtm_version_live and get_gtm_workspace_status.create_gtm_workspace. The change applies on the first call, so check it before you confirm.create_gtm_trigger and create_gtm_tag. create_gtm_tag previews with dry_run before it writes.preview_gtm_workspace, which changes nothing on your live site.create_gtm_version and publish_gtm_version. Publishing needs confirm and goes live for real users at once, so test with the preview first.Audit, build and publish in one place. PaidSync has 39 GTM tools. 18 only read and 19 can write, so Gemini can audit a container, build the fix in a workspace, preview it and publish it in one conversation.
Cross-platform reasoning. The same PaidSync connection covers Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, Microsoft Ads, GA4 and Merchant Center. Gemini can find the tag that fires a conversion, check the result in GA4, compare it with Google Ads and propose a fix in one thread.
This guide is for the Gemini app. In Gemini CLI the same PaidSync connection is one command:
gemini mcp add --transport http paidsync https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcpStart a session, type /mcp auth paidsync, and sign in with your PaidSync login in the browser window that opens. Gemini CLI stores the OAuth token for you. No key is pasted anywhere. Google replaced Gemini CLI with Antigravity CLI for unpaid-tier and Google One users on 18 June 2026, so those accounts add PaidSync in Antigravity instead, as step 1 shows. Then connect your Google Tag Manager account as in step 3.
list_gtm_accounts, list_gtm_containers and list_gtm_workspaces, which use none of your tasks.paidsync_context first. It returns your connected platforms and the full tool list, Tag Manager included, and Gemini then runs those tools through paidsync_exec. If PaidSync is missing from Gemini altogether, check that it is listed under Settings, then Connected Apps.In the Gemini app on a personal Google Account, open Settings, then Connected Apps, choose Add a custom app and paste https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp. Gemini CLI, Antigravity and Gemini Enterprise take the same endpoint, and step 1 covers each. Sign in to PaidSync and press Approve, then ask Gemini to connect your Google Tag Manager account. No API key is needed. Full steps are above.
Gemini can audit a container, list its tags, triggers, variables and versions, and check what is live. It can also create workspaces, tags, triggers and variables, give you a preview link, and create and publish a version, with your confirmation.
Yes, with two checks. publish_gtm_version needs confirm set, and Gemini asks before it runs the tool. Build changes in a separate workspace and test them with a preview link first, because publishing makes a version live on your website at once.
No. GTM uses a separate OAuth client from Google Ads, so connecting GTM leaves your Google Ads connection as it is.
Yes. list_gtm_accounts, list_gtm_containers and list_gtm_workspaces show everything your Google login can open. Tell Gemini which container and workspace you mean by name.
Yes. The free plan gives 15 tasks per month at $0 with no credit card. Pro starts at $99 a month and Team at $249 a month.
PaidSync has its own pricing: the free plan is $0 for 15 tasks a month with no card, and Pro starts at $99 a month. Which Gemini surface you can use depends on your Google account, as step 1 explains.
No. Of the 39 GTM tools, 18 only read and 19 can write. Most GTM writes have no dry run and apply on the first call, so keep Gemini's approval prompt on for them. Deletes need confirm_destructive.
Yes. PaidSync is one endpoint, https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp, with OAuth sign-in, and the same login works in Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot through Copilot Studio, Cursor and Windsurf. Set up PaidSync once and use it from any of them.
