To add keywords in Google Ads with Claude or ChatGPT, connect your Google Ads account to PaidSync.ai and ask the assistant to add keywords to an ad group with a match type for each, which puts them live in that ad group. Each keyword takes a match type of exact, phrase or broad. PaidSync.ai previews the list before it is added.
Keywords decide which searches can trigger an ad group. Claude can research ideas, check what the ad group already has, and add the ones you approve:
research_keywords uses Keyword Planner to return search volume, competition and bid estimates for the seed keywords you give.list_keywords lists the keywords in a campaign or ad group, with match type, bids and quality score.add_keywords adds keywords to an ad group, each with a match type of EXACT, PHRASE or BROAD.research_keywords and list_keywords only read your account. add_keywords changes it.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| research_keywords | Returns volume and bid estimates for your ideas |
| list_keywords | Shows the keywords already in the ad group |
| add_keywords | Writes the approved keywords to the ad group |
Match type changes who sees your ad. Exact is the tightest, phrase allows extra words around the meaning, and broad reaches furthest. For a new ad group, many advertisers start with exact and phrase, then widen once the search terms report shows what converts.
These steps use Claude to add keywords. PaidSync.ai also works in ChatGPT, and the prompts are the same.
Register at paidsync.ai and connect Google Ads with Google's own sign-in screen. It needs no developer token and no Google Cloud project. Pick the Google login that manages the account you will add keywords in.
Install PaidSync.ai from Claude's connector directory and sign in. Ask "list my Google Ads accounts" and select the account to add keywords in.
Ask for the keywords already in the ad group so you do not add a duplicate or compete with an existing one.
Ask the assistant to research your seed phrases and shortlist the ones with real volume. Decide the match type for each.
Ask it to run add_keywords on the ad group. It returns a preview with every keyword and match type. Approve it and read the list back.
List the keywords in the ad group again and check each one and its match type. After a week, run the search terms report to see what the new keywords actually matched.
Use these two prompts to add keywords, in this order.
