To create an ad group in Google Ads with Claude or ChatGPT, connect your Google Ads account to PaidSync.ai and ask the assistant to create an ad group in a campaign, which gives you a place to put keywords and ads. You give the campaign, a name and a maximum CPC bid. The ad group type defaults to a standard search ad group.
An ad group holds a tight set of keywords and the ads that match them. One write tool creates it, and a read finds the campaign:
list_campaigns returns your campaigns with their IDs and status.create_ad_group creates an ad group in a campaign with a name and a maximum CPC bid. The type defaults to SEARCH_STANDARD and the status to enabled.list_campaigns only reads your account. create_ad_group changes it.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_campaigns | Lists the campaigns you can add an ad group to |
| create_ad_group | Writes the new ad group to the campaign |
The ad group type has to fit the campaign. A Search campaign takes SEARCH_STANDARD, a Display campaign takes DISPLAY_STANDARD, and video campaigns use the video types. You can also create the ad group paused if you want to add keywords and ads first.
These steps use Claude to create an ad group. PaidSync.ai also works in ChatGPT, and the prompts are the same.
Sign up at paidsync.ai, then connect Google Ads on Google's own sign-in screen. There is no developer token and no Google Cloud project. Use the Google login that has access to the account where you want to create an ad group.
Add PaidSync.ai from Claude's connector directory and sign in. Ask "list my Google Ads accounts" and choose the one to create an ad group in.
Ask for your campaigns and choose the one the ad group belongs to. If the campaign is new, it is likely still paused.
Give a name that describes the theme, such as Emergency Repair, and a maximum CPC in your account currency.
Ask the assistant to run create_ad_group. Approve the preview, then add keywords and a responsive search ad.
List the ad groups in the campaign and check the new one appears with the right name and bid. Then add keywords and an ad, because an empty ad group does not serve.
Use these two prompts to create an ad group, in this order.

The default is SEARCH_STANDARD. The tool also accepts display, video, shopping and hotel types, and the type has to suit the campaign.
Yes. PaidSync.ai connects Google Ads to ChatGPT and to Claude, and the same tools run in both, so you can ask it to create an ad group the same way you would in Claude.
