Connect GA4 to Perplexity in 2 Minutes

By Ahmed Ashraf|Updated October 24, 2026
Google Analytics 4 Perplexity

PaidSync connects Google Analytics 4 to Perplexity via MCP. Perplexity gets read access to your traffic, sessions, conversions, and attribution data. Ask plain-English questions. Get real GA4 data back.

Setup time: 2 minutes. Free plan available. No credit card required.

How to connect GA4 to Perplexity with PaidSync

This is the route through Perplexity's custom connectors. No API key is needed, because Perplexity connects with a PaidSync sign-in (OAuth).

Before you start

  • Custom connectors are a Perplexity feature you add in step 1, and nothing needs installing. On a Perplexity Enterprise organization, an admin must first allow members to add custom connectors.
  • Signing in with Google? There is no separate sign-up. You pick Continue with Google in step 2, and your free PaidSync account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve.
  • Prefer an email and password? Create the account at paidsync.ai/signup first. The sign-up link inside the sign-in window opens the website and does not bring you back to Perplexity.
  • Know which Google login can open your GA4 property. A Viewer role is enough to read reports, and changes such as custom dimensions need the Editor role. You use it in step 3.
1

Add PaidSync to Perplexity as a custom connector

In Perplexity open Plugins in the sidebar (or Customize, then Connectors), choose Add custom, then Connector, then Add MCP connector, and select Remote. Name it PaidSync and paste the server URL:

https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp

Set authentication to OAuth 2.0 and transport to Streamable HTTP. PaidSync supports dynamic client registration, so the Client ID and Client Secret fields stay empty. Tick the acknowledgement, click Add, then click the PaidSync connector card and sign in with your PaidSync login. A custom connector needs a Perplexity plan that includes them, and on an Enterprise organization an admin must allow members to add custom connectors first.

2

Sign in to PaidSync and press Approve

The PaidSync sign-in screen opens. Pick Continue with Google, or sign in with your PaidSync email and password. A PaidSync screen then asks whether to allow Perplexity to manage your ad accounts via PaidSync. Press Approve and PaidSync is connected.

New to PaidSync and signing in with Google? Your free account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve. The screen also mentions ad accounts already connected inside PaidSync. On a new account that list is empty until you finish step 3.

3

Connect your GA4 property and ask Perplexity

In any chat, ask: "Connect my GA4." Perplexity replies with a link that opens Google's own sign-in and consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property and approve access. PaidSync asks Google for the analytics.edit and analytics.readonly scopes, so Perplexity can read reports and make the admin changes you ask for. PaidSync never sees your Google password.

Come back and ask: "List my GA4 properties." Perplexity uses list_ga4_properties to show every property your Google login can open, and you tell it which one to use. Connecting and listing properties uses none of your tasks. Then try: "Show me GA4 sessions and conversions for the last 7 days." You can also connect GA4 from the PaidSync dashboard instead. Both routes use the same PaidSync login, so Perplexity sees the property either way.

Free plan includes 15 tasks per month. Pro plans from $99/month.

What Perplexity Can Do with GA4

  • Pull traffic and conversion reports. Perplexity queries your GA4 property and returns sessions, users, conversions, revenue, and bounce rate for any date range or segment.
  • Analyze channel performance. Ask Perplexity to break down traffic by source or channel grouping and compare organic, paid, direct, and referral side by side.
  • Identify top landing pages. Perplexity returns your highest-converting landing pages sorted by conversion rate or total conversions, with session counts for context.
  • Cross-reference with ad spend. If you also connect Google Ads or Meta Ads, Perplexity can correlate ad spend with GA4 conversions to show true campaign ROAS across the full funnel.
  • Pull custom event data. Perplexity can query any custom event you have set up in GA4, including form submissions, button clicks, scroll depth, and video views.

Perplexity can read every GA4 report and also configure the property: create and delete key events, custom dimensions, custom metrics, audiences, and Google Ads links, and update enhanced measurement. Check each change before you tell Perplexity to apply it. GA4 has no campaigns, so there is nothing to launch or pause.

GA4 prompts to try in Perplexity

Each prompt runs on the PaidSync tools named after it and uses one or more of your tasks. Prompts 8 and 9 make a change in your GA4 property.

  1. "Audit my GA4 setup. What is missing?" Runs get_ga4_property, list_ga4_data_streams, list_ga4_conversion_events and get_ga4_enhanced_measurement, then lists the gaps it finds.
  2. "Is my GA4 tag firing right now? Show active users and events from the last 30 minutes." Runs run_ga4_realtime_report, which returns active users and event counts for the last 30 minutes.
  3. "Show my top 10 landing pages this month by sessions, with conversions and bounce rate for each." Runs run_ga4_report with landing page as the dimension.
  4. "Compare sessions and conversions from paid social this month with last month. What changed?" Perplexity runs run_ga4_report by session source and medium for each month and compares the two.
  5. "Count view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout and purchase events this month. Where do people drop off?" Runs run_ga4_report with event name and event count, then compares the steps. These are event totals, not a GA4 funnel exploration.
  6. "Did anything unusual happen yesterday? Any traffic spikes or drops?" Perplexity runs run_ga4_report for daily sessions over the last 15 days and compares yesterday with the 14 days before it.
  7. "Compare GA4 conversions with Google Ads conversions for last month. Where is the gap?" Runs run_ga4_report and the Google Ads tool get_campaign_performance through the same PaidSync connection.
  8. "Mark generate_lead as a key event in GA4." Runs create_ga4_conversion_event. The event must already be firing, and the change applies on the first call, so check it before you confirm.
  9. "Create a GA4 audience of users who triggered form_submit, kept for 90 days." Runs create_ga4_audience, which qualifies users on one event. The change applies on the first call, so check it before you confirm.

Why use PaidSync for GA4 in Perplexity

Reports and changes in one place. PaidSync has 26 GA4 tools. Most read your reports; the rest make changes you ask for, such as marking key events, creating custom dimensions or linking Google Ads. Google's own GA4 MCP server is experimental, runs on your own machine and only reads (checked 29 Sep 2026).

Cross-platform reasoning. The same PaidSync connection covers Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, Microsoft Ads, Google Tag Manager and Merchant Center. Perplexity can pull GA4 conversion data, compare it with Google Ads, find the Tag Manager tag that fires the event, and propose a fix in one thread.

Troubleshooting GA4 in Perplexity

  • The sign-in fails. Sign in to PaidSync the way you signed up, with Continue with Google or with your PaidSync email and password. Email users without an account create one at paidsync.ai/signup first, then click the PaidSync connector card in Perplexity again. If Google's own consent screen fails, ask Perplexity "Connect my GA4" again for a fresh link.
  • Perplexity used the wrong property. PaidSync keeps no default GA4 property. Every GA4 request names the property, so tell Perplexity which one you mean by name or property ID, and it sends that property with each request. Not sure of the ID? Ask Perplexity to list your GA4 properties with list_ga4_properties, which uses none of your tasks.
  • A property is not listed. PaidSync lists the properties your connected Google login can open. In GA4, an admin adds that login under Admin, then Property access management. A Viewer role is enough to read reports, and changes such as custom dimensions need Editor. Connected with the wrong Google login? Disconnect it in the PaidSync dashboard and connect again with the login that has access.
  • Perplexity says it has no GA4 tool. PaidSync shows Perplexity a short starter list of tools to keep the chat light. Ask Perplexity to call paidsync_context first. It returns your connected platforms and the full tool list, GA4 included, and Perplexity then runs those tools through paidsync_exec. If PaidSync is missing from Perplexity altogether, check that its connector card is enabled under Plugins.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect GA4 to Perplexity?

In Perplexity open Plugins, choose Add custom, then Connector, then Add MCP connector, select Remote and paste https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp with OAuth 2.0 and Streamable HTTP. Click the PaidSync connector card, sign in to PaidSync and press Approve, then ask Perplexity to connect your GA4 account. No API key is needed. Full steps are above.

What GA4 data can Perplexity access?

Perplexity can access sessions, users, pageviews, conversions, revenue, bounce rate, channel grouping, landing page performance, device breakdowns, and custom event data from your GA4 property.

What Google OAuth scope does PaidSync request for GA4?

PaidSync requests https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.edit together with analytics.readonly. That covers reports plus property configuration (key events, custom dimensions and metrics, audiences, Google Ads links). It cannot delete a property or touch billing.

Can Perplexity cross-reference GA4 data with Google Ads?

Yes. If you connect both GA4 and Google Ads to PaidSync, Perplexity can correlate ad spend with GA4 traffic and conversions to show full-funnel ROAS in a single conversation. Both connections use the same PaidSync login.

Does PaidSync work with multiple GA4 properties?

Yes. PaidSync can connect to multiple GA4 properties. Perplexity can query a specific property by name or numeric property ID when you have more than one connected.

Is PaidSync free to use with GA4?

Yes. Free plan gives 15 tasks per month at $0. Pro starts at $99/month for 600 tasks. Team plans start at $249/month for 5 seats. No credit card needed to start.

What does PaidSync cost with Perplexity?

PaidSync has its own pricing: the free plan is $0 for 15 tasks a month with no card, and Pro starts at $99 a month. Whether your Perplexity plan can add a custom connector depends on Perplexity, and an Enterprise admin must allow it first.

Is GA4 access read-only through PaidSync?

No. PaidSync has 26 GA4 tools. Most read your reports; the rest make changes you ask for, such as marking key events, creating custom dimensions or linking Google Ads. PaidSync reads GA4 reports through the Data API and makes the admin changes you ask for, such as marking key events, through the Admin API. GA4 changes apply on the first call, so keep Perplexity's approval prompt on for them.

Does the same PaidSync connection work in other assistants?

Yes. PaidSync is one endpoint, https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp, with OAuth sign-in, and the same login works in Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot through Copilot Studio, Cursor and Windsurf. Set up PaidSync once and use it from any of them.
