This is how to add location targets in Microsoft Ads with AI: connect your Microsoft Ads account to PaidSync.ai, then ask Claude to add target and excluded locations to a campaign, using location IDs from Microsoft's own file. Targets and exclusions are separate lists, and the preview warns about ad group level effects.
Location targeting needs numeric IDs. The workflow looks them up and then adds them:
list_ms_geo_locations searches Microsoft's locations file by name or type and returns each location ID and its status.add_ms_location_targets adds location targets and exclusions to a campaign or an ad group, after validating the IDs.set_ms_location_intent sets whether ads reach people in a place or also those searching about it.list_ms_geo_locations only reads your account. add_ms_location_targets and set_ms_location_intent change it. Claude calls these to add location targets.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_ms_geo_locations | Finds the location IDs |
| add_ms_location_targets | Adds the locations after the preview |
| set_ms_location_intent | Sets how location intent works |
Adding the first location at ad group level stops that ad group inheriting any of its campaign's locations, targets and exclusions alike, and the dry run says so. Keep targets and exclusions in their own lists.
These steps use Claude to add location targets in Microsoft Ads. In the ChatGPT app PaidSync.ai is report-only for Microsoft Ads, so the change itself runs in Claude or another MCP client.

The first location criterion on an ad group stops it inheriting its campaign's locations, so check the preview before you confirm.
Not to add location targets itself. In the ChatGPT app PaidSync.ai reads and reports on Microsoft Ads but is report-only, so run the change in Claude or another MCP client. ChatGPT can still read the account first.
