To set a Facebook campaign spend cap with Claude or ChatGPT, ask the assistant to set the campaign spend cap to the amount you choose, read the preview, and confirm. Meta then stops delivery once the campaign reaches that total. The cap is a lifetime ceiling, so it holds even on a day when Meta spends more than the daily budget.
A spend cap is the most a campaign may spend over its whole life, in your account currency. It is different from a daily budget. Two tools help you set and check it:
update_fb_campaign sets or changes the spend cap, and can remove it when you ask.get_fb_spend_limits reads spend today and in total for each campaign against its daily budget and spend cap.The report reads. update_fb_campaign changes the account.
| Tool | What it needs |
|---|---|
| update_fb_campaign | Changes the account. The campaign ID, as text, and a spend cap amount. To clear it, a remove-cap flag and your confirmation. |
| get_fb_spend_limits | Reads only. Optional: campaign IDs to limit the report. |
Raising a cap by more than 50 percent, or removing it, needs an explicit confirmation. Removing the cap leaves the campaign with no total ceiling.
These steps use Claude. PaidSync.ai also works in ChatGPT, so you can set a Facebook campaign spend cap there with the same prompts.
Start at paidsync.ai, then approve the Meta connection on Meta's sign-in screen. Decide the total you are willing to spend on this campaign.
Add the PaidSync.ai connector from Claude's directory. Sign in, ask Claude to list your Meta ad accounts and set the active one before you set a Facebook campaign spend cap.
Ask Claude for spend so far against each cap, so the new cap is higher than what the campaign has already spent.
Claude runs update_fb_campaign as a dry run and shows the current cap, if any, next to the new one.
Say yes. For a large raise or a removal, Claude asks for one more confirmation.
Run the spend limit check again. The campaign should show the new cap and how much room is left under it.
Every Meta tool PaidSync.ai offers is on the Meta Ads MCP server page. To see all limits at once, see how to check Meta Ads spend limits with AI.
Ask Claude or ChatGPT to set the cap through PaidSync.ai, check the preview and confirm.
