Google Ads Account Audit Workflow, Ready to Run in Claude or ChatGPT

By Ahmed Ashraf|Updated 29 September 2026

Written by PaidSync's founder. This page describes one of PaidSync's ready-made workflows, from its code. We checked the other options on their own pages on 29 September 2026.

Google Ads Claude

The account-audit workflow is a fast, read-only health check of one Google Ads account, and it ships with PaidSync. In one run it reads the account's campaigns and conversion actions together, counts enabled and paused campaigns, adds up the daily budgets of the enabled ones, counts conversion actions, and returns up to three red flags: no enabled campaigns, no conversion actions, or fewer than 20% of campaigns enabled. To run it, connect PaidSync to Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to run the PaidSync account-audit workflow. A run counts as one task and works on every plan, including Free, which has 15 tasks a month.

It is a quick check, not the full audit. For a review across 20 dimensions, such as wasted spend, Quality Score and impression share, ask Claude for PaidSync's run_account_audit tool instead. The workflow reads Google Ads and never changes anything. Disclosure: PaidSync publishes this page.

What the account audit checks

The workflow is a few lines of code. This is all of it, in plain words.

  1. If you name an account, it runs on that account. Otherwise it uses your active Google Ads account.
  2. It reads two lists at once: the campaigns, with each one's status and budget, and the conversion actions. Removed campaigns are left out.
  3. It counts all campaigns, the enabled ones and the paused ones.
  4. It adds up the budget of every enabled campaign.
  5. It counts the conversion actions.
  6. It raises a red flag for each of these: no enabled campaigns; no conversion actions defined; fewer than 20% of campaigns enabled, when the account has at least one campaign.
  7. It reports the account as ok when there are no red flags.

Settings you can change

Every setting is optional. Leave one out and the workflow uses the default below. Amounts are in the account's own currency.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
account_idYour active accountThe Google Ads account to check, such as 123-456-7890.

What it returns

One small object, the same shape every time:

  • campaigns_total, enabled_count and paused_count.
  • daily_budget_total: the budgets of the enabled campaigns added together.
  • conversion_actions_count.
  • red_flags: a list with zero to three of the flags above.
  • ok: true when the list is empty.

How to run it

In a chat. Connect PaidSync to Claude from Claude's connector directory, or to ChatGPT from its Plugins, connect Google Ads, then ask:

"Run the PaidSync account-audit workflow on my Google Ads account 123-456-7890."

Claude calls paidsync_workflows_run with the workflow's name and your settings. Setup is in how to connect Google Ads to Claude.

From your own agent or code. Call the same tool on https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp:

paidsync_workflows_run({ name: "account-audit", params: { account_id: "123-456-7890" } })

On a schedule. Because it only reads, it is safe to run unattended. A Claude Code routine can run it as often as hourly on a paid Claude plan, or your own cron job can call it. PaidSync does not run it on a timer by itself.

Cost. A run counts as one PaidSync task, whatever it calls inside. The Free plan has 15 tasks a month with no credit card, and runs this workflow. Pro starts at $99 a month for 600 tasks.

Free for 15 tasks a month with no credit card, then priced by usage, from $99 a month for 600 tasks.

Limits to know

  • Google Ads alone. It does not look at Meta, LinkedIn or the other platforms.
  • It counts every conversion action the account lists, whatever its status, so it tells you tracking is set up, not that it records conversions. For that, ask Claude for get_conversion_tracking_status.
  • A shared budget used by several campaigns is added once per campaign, so the daily budget total can be higher than what the account can spend in a day.
  • The three red flags are fixed rules. It does not check spend, cost per conversion, Quality Score or search terms. run_account_audit covers those.

Other ways to do this job

Checked on 29 September 2026, on each option's own pages.

  • Google Ads optimization score. Google describes it as "an estimate of how well your Google Ads account is set to perform", from 0 to 100%, at campaign, account and manager account level, with recommendations that each show their effect on the score.
  • Google's own Google Ads MCP server. Its GAQL search can count campaigns by status and list conversion actions. Google says it is strictly read-only, and you host it yourself.
  • PaidSync's full audit. In a chat, run_account_audit reviews the account across 20 dimensions over the last 30 days.

What to do with the results

If a red flag says there are no conversion actions, fix tracking before you trust any other number. If the account looks healthy, run find-waste next to see where money goes without converting, and the guide to building your own ads agent shows how to chain workflows into a weekly routine.

Frequently asked questions

What does the PaidSync account-audit workflow check?

It counts all, enabled and paused Google Ads campaigns, adds up the daily budgets of the enabled ones, counts conversion actions, and raises up to three red flags: no enabled campaigns, no conversion actions, or fewer than 20% of campaigns enabled. Removed campaigns are left out.

Is it the same as a full Google Ads audit?

No. It is a fast structural check. PaidSync's run_account_audit tool is the full review, across 20 dimensions including wasted spend, search terms, Quality Score, impression share and conversion tracking, over the last 30 days.

Does the account-audit workflow change anything in my account?

No. It reads the campaign list and the conversion action list and returns counts. It never pauses, edits or creates anything.

How much does a run cost?

One PaidSync task per run. The Free plan has 15 tasks a month with no credit card and runs this workflow, and Pro starts at $99 a month for 600 tasks.

Can I run it for every client account?

Yes, one run per account. Pass each client account ID in the run, and each run counts as one task. PaidSync binds the account for that run alone, so runs on different clients do not overwrite each other.
