To find your container in Google Tag Manager with Claude or ChatGPT, connect your Google Tag Manager account to PaidSync.ai and ask the assistant to list my Tag Manager accounts and containers, which gives you the IDs every other request needs. It reads only.
Every Tag Manager request points at an account and a container. Three read tools find them:
list_gtm_accounts lists the Tag Manager accounts across every connected Google login.list_gtm_containers lists the containers, for one account or for all of them.get_gtm_container shows one container, including its public ID and domain.list_gtm_accounts, list_gtm_containers and get_gtm_container only read your account. That is the full set you need to find your container.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_gtm_accounts | Lists your accounts |
| list_gtm_containers | Lists your containers |
| get_gtm_container | Shows one container |
Group the answer by Google login if you work across clients. The public ID, which starts with GTM, is the one you see on the site.
These steps use Claude to find your container. PaidSync.ai also works in ChatGPT, and the prompts are the same.
Sign up at paidsync.ai, then connect Google Tag Manager on Google's own sign-in screen. There is no API key to paste and no config file to edit. Use the Google login that has access to the container where you want to find your container.
Add PaidSync.ai from Claude's connector directory and sign in. Ask "list my Google Tag Manager containers" and choose the one to find your container in.
Ask for your Tag Manager accounts.
Ask for the containers under the account you need.
Ask for its details and note the public ID and domain.
Compare the public ID with the one on your site source or in the Tag Manager screen.
Use these two prompts to find your container, in this order.
list_gtm_accounts, list_gtm_containers and get_gtm_container only read Google Tag Manager, so nothing you do to find your container edits your setup.Every Google Tag Manager tool PaidSync.ai offers is listed on the Google Tag Manager MCP server tools page, including the tools used to find your container.
Open tagmanager.google.com and read the IDs from the account list. With PaidSync.ai you ask Claude or ChatGPT to list every account and container at once.
The Google login with access to it is probably not connected. Connect that login and list again.
