To review your tags in Google Tag Manager with Claude or ChatGPT, connect your Google Tag Manager account to PaidSync.ai and ask the assistant to list the tags in my workspace, which shows what fires on your site. It reads only.
Tags are the tracking code that runs on your pages. Two read tools list them and open any one:
list_gtm_tags lists every tag in a workspace.get_gtm_tag shows a tag in full, with its parameters and triggers.list_gtm_workspaces finds the workspace to read.list_gtm_tags, get_gtm_tag and list_gtm_workspaces only read your account. That is the full set you need to review your tags.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_gtm_tags | Lists the tags |
| get_gtm_tag | Opens one tag |
| list_gtm_workspaces | Finds the workspace |
Look for tags with no trigger, paused tags and near-duplicates. Each one is a question to settle before you add anything new.
These steps use Claude to review your tags. PaidSync.ai also works in ChatGPT, and the prompts are the same.
Start at paidsync.ai, then link Google Tag Manager through Google's own sign-in screen. No API key and no config file are involved. The login you choose must reach the container where you will review your tags.
Install PaidSync.ai from Claude's connector directory and sign in. Ask "list my Google Tag Manager containers" and select the one to review your tags in.
List workspaces and pick the one you work in.
Ask for every tag with its type.
Ask for the full details of any tag you do not recognise.
Compare the list with what your site needs. A tag without a clear reason is worth a note.
Use these two prompts to review your tags, in this order.
list_gtm_tags, get_gtm_tag and list_gtm_workspaces only read Google Tag Manager, so nothing you do to review your tags edits your setup.Every Google Tag Manager tool PaidSync.ai offers is listed on the Google Tag Manager MCP server tools page, including the tools used to review your tags.
In Tag Manager, open Tags in the workspace. With PaidSync.ai the assistant lists them and can open each one on request.
This lists and explains tags. The audit checks the container against common mistakes.
Yes. PaidSync.ai connects Google Tag Manager to ChatGPT and to Claude, and the same tools run in both, so you can ask it to review your tags the same way you would in Claude.
