OpenAI dots are always-on agents inside ChatGPT, announced on 29 September 2026, and they use the plugins you connect in ChatGPT. PaidSync is a published ChatGPT plugin for Google Ads, Meta Ads and 12 more ad and analytics platforms. Give a dot access to PaidSync and it should be able to check your accounts in the background, report on a schedule and ask before it changes anything. Dots are on ChatGPT Pro outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and on Business Premium. PaidSync hasn't been tested inside a dot yet.
A dot is an always-on agent inside ChatGPT. OpenAI built dots on GPT-6 Astra and gives each one its own cloud computer, so it keeps working toward the goals you set after you close the chat.
You create a dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or in ChatGPT on the web from a computer. After setup you can also message it from the ChatGPT mobile app, Slack or Teams. You give it recurring checks and choose which apps it can reach, and OpenAI says dots can connect to more than 4,000 apps through ChatGPT plugins.
Who can use dots today:
OpenAI says your first dot is included in Pro or Business Premium at no extra cost. Dots are rolling out over several days, and for the first month dot usage doesn't count toward your plan's limits.
When you aren't talking to it, a dot does what OpenAI calls proactive research. It uses your connected apps with tools restricted to read-only, so in the background it can't send messages or change anything. With PaidSync connected, that should cover spend, pacing and search terms. OpenAI says you can follow this background work in the dot's Activity View.
Ask a dot for a recurring check and it appears under Scheduled in the dot's profile. A daily pacing check or a weekly wasted-spend review fits well.
For actions, dots use auto-review to decide what can go ahead and what needs you, and Custom Rules let you choose per action: take action without asking, take action if pre-approved, ask before taking action, or hand off to you. PaidSync adds its own checks on top. Google Ads creates and most other creates run as a dry-run preview first, destructive changes such as pauses and deletes need an explicit confirm, and every applied change is logged with a 7-day before-and-after result.
One PaidSync connection covers Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Microsoft Ads, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, X, ChatGPT Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Search Console and Merchant Center. A dot can put all of them in one table instead of one tab per platform.
Go to paidsync.ai/signup. In the PaidSync dashboard, connect Google Ads, Meta or any other platform you run. Each platform's own sign-in screen handles the login, so PaidSync never sees your ad platform passwords.
In ChatGPT open Plugins, search PaidSync, click Install plugin and sign in with your PaidSync login. Check that the developer is Advanced Technology Labs LLC, the company that operates PaidSync. Already use PaidSync in ChatGPT? Skip this step. The full walkthrough is in Connect Google Ads to ChatGPT.
Open your dot's profile, go to Customize, then Plugins, select PaidSync and review its permissions. OpenAI says this screen uses your shared ChatGPT settings, and also that the apps on offer to a dot may differ. If PaidSync isn't listed for your dot yet, keep using it in a regular ChatGPT chat.
In your dot's Custom Rules, set changes to budgets, bids and campaign status to Ask before taking action. Reports and reads can run without asking.
Try "Every weekday at 8am, check yesterday's spend on each ad account against its daily budget and tell me only if something is more than 20% off." The check then shows under Scheduled in the dot's profile.
Use a regular ChatGPT chat when you want an answer now and plan to watch the change happen. Use a dot when the job repeats or runs for days, like pacing checks, weekly search-term reviews or watching a launch. Both use the same PaidSync plugin and the same PaidSync account, so there's nothing extra to set up.
Not on a plan with dots yet? Everything above except the always-on part works in a regular chat today. See how to connect your ads to ChatGPT, or compare the other new agents in Which New AI Agents Can Run Google Ads and Meta Ads in 2026.
Dots are always-on agents inside ChatGPT that OpenAI announced on 29 September 2026. Each runs on GPT-6 Astra with its own cloud computer and browser, works toward goals you set, and uses the apps you connect in ChatGPT. You can message a dot in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams.
Through a plugin, it should. Dots use the plugins you connect in ChatGPT, and OpenAI hasn't announced ad tools of its own for dots. PaidSync is a published ChatGPT plugin that reads and changes Google Ads, Meta Ads and 12 more platforms. We haven't tested it inside a dot yet.
OpenAI says dots use the apps you connected in ChatGPT, and PaidSync is a published ChatGPT plugin. OpenAI also says the apps on offer may differ and hasn't published which. If PaidSync isn't in your dot's Plugins screen yet, use it in a regular ChatGPT chat meanwhile.
Install the PaidSync plugin in ChatGPT, then open your dot's profile, go to Customize, then Plugins, and select PaidSync. It's the same plugin and account you use in ChatGPT, with no developer mode and no API key.
Not in the background. OpenAI restricts a dot's background research to read-only tools. For actions, set PaidSync changes to Ask before taking action in your dot's Custom Rules. PaidSync also needs an explicit confirm for destructive changes.
Pro in every market except the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK, Business Premium in all supported regions, and Enterprise as a beta your admin turns on. OpenAI says your first dot is included in Pro or Business Premium at no extra cost.
PaidSync is free for 15 tasks a month with no credit card, then plans start at $99 a month. Connecting and picking accounts use no tasks. Each report or change uses one or more.
PaidSync runs 610+ tools across 14 ad and analytics platforms. Connect your accounts once and use them in any AI assistant you like.
