ChatGPT Ads Claude

PaidSync connects ChatGPT Ads to Claude via MCP. Claude gets 28 tools to read your OpenAI Ads performance and to build and manage campaigns, ad groups and ads. Ask plain-English questions. Get real ChatGPT Ads data back.

Setup time: 2 minutes. Free plan available. No credit card required.

How to connect ChatGPT Ads to Claude with PaidSync

This is the route through Claude's connector directory. No PaidSync API key is needed, because Claude connects with a PaidSync sign-in (OAuth).

Before you start

  • Any Claude plan works, including Free, and there is nothing to install.
  • Signing in with Google? There is no separate sign-up. You pick Continue with Google in step 2, and your free PaidSync account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve.
  • Prefer an email and password? Create the account at paidsync.ai/signup first. The sign-up link inside the sign-in window opens the website and does not bring you back to Claude.
  • Have your OpenAI Ads API key ready. Create it in the Settings of your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com. You use it in step 3.
  • On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner first adds PaidSync for the organization under Organization settings, then Connectors. Each person then connects with their own PaidSync login.
1

Add PaidSync to Claude from the connector directory

Open PaidSync in the Claude connector directory and click Connect. Or, in claude.ai or the Claude Desktop app, open Customize, then Connectors, click + next to Connectors, search PaidSync, and click Connect.

Sign in with your PaidSync login. That OAuth sign-in is what lets Claude apply changes. Connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free.

Using Claude Code instead? Run claude mcp add --transport http paidsync https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp, then type /mcp inside a session to sign in.

On a client with no directory, add PaidSync as a custom connector with the server URL instead (on a Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add one):

https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp

Save it, then sign in with your PaidSync login when Claude asks.

2

Sign in to PaidSync and press Approve

The PaidSync sign-in screen opens. Pick Continue with Google, or sign in with your PaidSync email and password. A PaidSync screen then asks whether to allow Claude to manage your ad accounts via PaidSync. Press Approve and Claude shows PaidSync as connected.

New to PaidSync and signing in with Google? Your free account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve. The screen also mentions ad accounts already connected inside PaidSync. On a new account that list is empty until you finish step 3.

3

Connect your ChatGPT Ads account and ask Claude

In any chat, ask: "Connect my ChatGPT Ads." Claude replies with a link to your PaidSync dashboard, because the API key is entered there securely and never in chat. Sign in with the OpenAI account that can open your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com, create the key in that ad account's Settings, paste it on the dashboard and save. Each key connects exactly one ad account, and keys from platform.openai.com are refused. PaidSync encrypts the key at rest.

Come back and ask: "List my ChatGPT Ads accounts." Claude uses list_openai_accounts to show them and set_active_openai_account to pick the one you name. Connecting and listing accounts uses none of your tasks. Then try: "Show my ChatGPT Ads campaign performance for the last 7 days."

Free plan includes 15 tasks per month. Pro plans from $99/month.

What Claude Can Do with ChatGPT Ads

  • Read performance. Claude pulls spend, clicks and impressions for a date range you choose, with get_openai_performance.
  • List what runs. Claude lists your campaigns, ad groups and ads with their status, and finds geo targets for a location.
  • Build from scratch. Claude creates a campaign, its ad groups and a chat card ad, and uploads the creative image. Each create previews as a dry run first.
  • Manage what is running. Claude pauses, enables or archives campaigns, ad groups and ads, and updates their settings.
  • Work across platforms. The same connection reaches Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4 and the rest, so Claude can compare ChatGPT Ads with them in one chat.

Claude can read the whole account and also change it. Claude's own confirmation prompt is the human check before a change runs, and archiving is permanent. New ad groups start paused, so nothing new serves until you enable it. PaidSync does not manage video creative, audiences or billing for ChatGPT Ads.

ChatGPT Ads prompts to try in Claude

Each prompt runs on the PaidSync tools named after it and uses one or more of your tasks. Prompts 5 to 7 make a change in your account.

  1. "Show my ChatGPT Ads campaigns for the last 7 days with spend, clicks and impressions." Runs list_openai_campaigns and get_openai_performance.
  2. "List every ad group in the Spring Sale campaign with its status." Runs list_openai_adgroups.
  3. "Which ChatGPT Ads ads are live right now?" Runs list_openai_ads.
  4. "Compare ChatGPT Ads spend with Meta spend for the last 14 days." Runs get_openai_performance and the Meta Ads performance tool through the same PaidSync connection.
  5. "Pause the Retargeting ad group." Runs pause_openai_adgroup. A pause needs an explicit confirm, and enable_openai_adgroup turns it back on.
  6. "Preview creating a campaign called Spring Launch with a daily budget." Runs create_openai_campaign, which previews as a dry run first. The change applies only after you confirm.
  7. "Archive the old Winter campaign." Runs archive_openai_campaign. Archiving is permanent, so it says so before it runs and needs an explicit confirm.

Why use PaidSync for ChatGPT Ads in Claude

Build and manage in one place. PaidSync has 28 ChatGPT Ads tools that read, build and manage. Creates and updates preview as a dry run, and destructive changes need an explicit confirm.

Cross-platform reasoning. The same PaidSync connection covers Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, Microsoft Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager and Merchant Center. Claude can compare ChatGPT Ads spend with Meta and Google, check the result in GA4 and propose the next move in one thread.

How do I connect ChatGPT Ads to Claude Code?

Claude Code connects to the same PaidSync server with one command:

claude mcp add --transport http paidsync https://mcp.paidsync.ai/mcp

Start a session, type /mcp, pick paidsync, and sign in with your PaidSync login in the browser window that opens. Claude Code stores the OAuth token for you. No key is pasted anywhere. The Claude Code setup page covers the shared .mcp.json for teams and a headless audit run.

Troubleshooting ChatGPT Ads in Claude

  • The sign-in fails. Sign in to PaidSync the way you signed up, with Continue with Google or with your PaidSync email and password. Email users without an account create one at paidsync.ai/signup first, then click Connect in Claude again.
  • The key is refused. Create the key in the Settings of your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com. Keys from platform.openai.com are refused for ads. If PaidSync later reports that the key was rejected, issue a new key there and connect again.
  • Claude used the wrong account. Each key connects exactly one ad account. Ask Claude to list your ChatGPT Ads accounts and switch to the one you mean. It runs list_openai_accounts, then set_active_openai_account. To add another account, create a key in that account and connect again.
  • Claude says it has no ChatGPT Ads tool. PaidSync shows Claude a short starter list of tools to keep the chat light. Ask Claude to call paidsync_context first. It returns your connected platforms and the full tool list, ChatGPT Ads included, and Claude then runs those tools through paidsync_exec. If PaidSync is missing from Claude altogether, check that it shows as connected under Customize, then Connectors.

Can Claude create and manage ChatGPT Ads campaigns?

Yes. ChatGPT Ads is a build tier platform in PaidSync. Claude can create a campaign, its ad groups and chat card ads, upload creative images, and pause, enable, update or archive what runs. Creates and updates preview as a dry run first, and pauses, enables and archives need an explicit confirm.

The key is entered on the PaidSync dashboard, not in chat. It is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, and disconnecting deletes it.

Does ChatGPT Ads work in other assistants too?

Yes. The same PaidSync connection works in Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Cursor, Windsurf and Claude Code. In the ChatGPT app, PaidSync reads ChatGPT Ads performance but does not change it, so build and manage from Claude or another MCP client.
