How to connect ChatGPT Ads to ChatGPT with PaidSync

Before you start

PaidSync's listing is the PaidSync plugin in ChatGPT's Plugins directory. Check that the developer is Advanced Technology Labs LLC, the company that operates PaidSync. OpenAI says availability depends on your ChatGPT plan, region and workspace.
Signing in with Google? There is no separate sign-up. You pick Continue with Google in step 2, and your free PaidSync account (15 tasks a month, no credit card) is created when you press Approve.
Prefer an email and password? Create the account at paidsync.ai/signup first. Email sign-up happens on the PaidSync website, not in ChatGPT.
Have your OpenAI Ads API key ready. Create it in the Settings of your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com. You use it in step 3.

Add PaidSync to ChatGPT from the directory

In any chat, ask: "Connect my ChatGPT Ads." ChatGPT replies with a link to your PaidSync dashboard, because the API key is entered there securely and never in chat. Sign in with the OpenAI account that can open your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com, create the key in that ad account's Settings, paste it on the dashboard and save. Each key connects exactly one ad account, and keys from platform.openai.com are refused. PaidSync encrypts the key at rest.

Troubleshooting ChatGPT Ads in ChatGPT

The sign-in fails. Sign in to PaidSync the way you signed up, with Continue with Google or with your PaidSync email and password. Email users without an account create one at paidsync.ai/signup first, then sign in again from the PaidSync plugin in ChatGPT.
The key is refused. Create the key in the Settings of your ad account in ChatGPT Ads Manager at ads.openai.com. Keys from platform.openai.com are refused for ads. If PaidSync later reports that the key was rejected, issue a new key there and connect again.
ChatGPT used the wrong account. Each key connects exactly one ad account. Ask ChatGPT to list your ChatGPT Ads accounts and switch to the one you mean. It runs list_openai_accounts, then set_active_openai_account. To add another account, create a key in that account and connect again.
ChatGPT says it has no ChatGPT Ads tool. PaidSync shows ChatGPT a short starter list of tools to keep the chat light. Ask ChatGPT to call paidsync_context first.
